Is college totally necessary for an aspiring entrepreneur?

entrepreneur
Lately, I have been frustrated about college in general. I mean, you pay thousands of dollars, only to graduate and be so in debt, you wouldn t be able to start a business. I am a management major and plan to pursue entrepreneurship, but along with it are pointless courses like calc 2 and some religious crap and I just don t see the point. There are so many successful entrepreneurs either without a college degree or those who have degrees but werent trained in entrepreneurship specifically. ANy thoughts?

Of course it’s not totally necessary. It might help you get venture capital if you have a college degree, and you will learn some things that will make you better at running a business, but obviously there are successful entrepreneurs without management degrees – in fact, there are probably a lot more with engineering degrees than management degrees.

More education is always a good idea, you never know what you will encounter once you try to start your own business.

I can only tell you that banks will be more likely to approve business loans based on education level or life experience. You can learn how to write good business plans by taking a few courses online or at your local school. Since you’re frustrated about school “in general” you might be best off taking online classes at your leisure. And talk to banks about their biz loan pre-quals. I’d search the directory for online classes:
